Strategi Komunkasi Kesehatan Unit Layanan Konseling Kampus Universitas Buddhi Dharma: Eksplorasi Kualitatif
Abstract
This study aims to explore the communication strategies implemented by the Campus Counseling Service Unit at Buddhi Dharma University in promoting mental health awareness and encouraging students’ help-seeking behavior. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations involving campus counselors and students who have accessed counseling services. Thematic analysis was applied to identify key themes emerging from participants’ experiences and perceptions. The findings reveal that the counseling unit has employed empathetic and educational messages through interpersonal and digital communication channels, including social media and campus campaigns. However, limitations were found in message design, frequency of promotion, and students’ awareness of service procedures. The study also highlights that environmental and peer factors significantly influence students’ willingness to seek professional help. Organizational support and the destigmatization of mental health communication are crucial in strengthening participation and accessibility. The research concludes that an integrated communication framework combining interpersonal, digital, and peer-based strategies can enhance the effectiveness of campus mental health services and foster a supportive academic culture toward psychological well-being.
